History of Bowman Heights
Bowman Heights is a neighborhood in Historic West Tampa that was founded in 1940. According to the Tampa Tribune, the initial subdivision was 8 houses.
Samuel Bowman was the owner of the initial development, hence the name Bowman Heights.Carlos Ferlita was the building contractor, and it's no coincidence that Ferlita and Son Plumbing is a business near Bowman Heights today.
The streets of Bowman Heights started with their current names, like Kathleen and Aileen, in the 1940s. The home prices were $2,700 - $3,000 (equivalent to $55,797.43 in 2020).

We continue to enrich our neighborhood's history, culture, and contributions to the local community with the Bowman Heights Neighborhood Association, established in 2019.
